Downtown Visions: A Time Warp City Walk
Join visiting artists Nicole Lavelle and Bennett Williamson on a walk around Downtown El Paso. Rather than a narration or official tour of architectural history, the walk will offer a framed experience of the city center, focusing on the built environment and featuring brief visits with contemporary cultural and business figures. Along the way, the artists will layer in voices of El Pasoans through dramatic readings of newspapers, Yelp reviews, planning documents, blog rants, industry newsletters, and country songs. The walk will retell past and present visions of El Paso’s downtown future, highlighting cyclical narratives from the chronicles of urban development.
